Harvest Home Postponed to August 6th 2022

As you all know only too well, we are experiencing unprecedented limitations on our life and social activity due to the current Covid-10 pandemic.  With the country still in full lockdown and with great uncertainty over when restrictions will begin to lift and what limitations there may be on social gatherings throughout the summer, the Burtle Harvest Home Committee feel we have no alternative but to once again postpone the Harvest Home until next year.  The new date for the next Burtle Harvest Home will therefore be Saturday August 6th, 2022.

The committee has taken this decision with much sadness and great reluctance but feel it would be irresponsible of us to plan such a major local event while there is still such a high risk of infection.  We trust that villagers will understand and support this decision.

In the event that some degree of social contact is allowed by August 2021 we propose holding a Summer Fete similar to that in 2019 which would be a less formal and impromptu event which can be organized at short notice.  Please watch out for new of this event and updates to the next Harvest Home in the newsletter and harvest home web site www.burtleharvesthome.co.uk and FaceBook page.

The next Harvest Home promises to be a wonderful day for all those involved and will be a much needed opportunity for fun and merriment without the menace of Covid around every corner and we hope everyone will join in this well overdue event whether it means participating in marquee decorating, cooking, serving or the multitude of other tasks or more importantly eating, drinking and enjoying the day with friends and family.  Looking forward to meeting, celebrating and enjoying the festivities with everyone.  Roll on 2022!!

Pumpkin Competition

Under these socially distancing times the Harvest Home Committee would like to recommend that children not to go “Trick or Treating” this year and instead to enter our “Carve a Pumpkin” competition.  There is no limit to the number of entries you can submit and there will be Grand Prize of Spooky Surprises for the best entry.  There is no entry fee, however, if you would like to make a donation to the Harvest Home that would be most welcome.

To enter simply take a photo of your entry and submit via Messenger to Burtle Harvest Home or by email to Steve Allen (sga@databydesign.co.uk) together with your name and age.  All entries will be posted on our Face Book page (Burtle Harvest Home) and our web site, www.burtleharvesthome.co.uk.  Entries close at 12 noon on October 31st

We suggest that all your pumpkins be put on display on Halloween to brighten-up the village.

Burtle Harvest Home Postponed

Given that the current disruption to our daily lives is likely to continue for some weeks to come and considering the long-term impact that COVID-19 will have on local people and businesses, the Harvest Home Committee have sadly decided that we should postpone the 2020 Harvest Home until next year.   We are therefore planning to re-schedule this event for Saturday August 7th 2021.  Please make a note in your diary.

For anyone that has already bought and paid for tickets for this years event we will, of course, be offering a  full refund.   Alternatively, should you wish to retain your ticket it will be honoured next year even if we are forced to increase prices.

Any individual or business that has provided a donation or sponsorship will also be offered a refund or given the option to carry this forward to next year.

Needless to say we are all extremely sad to have to make this decision but feel it is the responsible thing to do under the circumstances.

Very best regards and looking forward to 2021.

Covid-19 update

At this time it is still anticipated that Burtle Harvest Home, scheduled for Saturday August 1st, will go ahead as planned.  Our assumption is that the current situation regarding the virus will have eased by this time and that things will be returning to normal.  It is hoped that this event will provide a much needed celebration after the trauma and disruption of the coming weeks.

As such the committee are continuing with plans for the event.  Tickets are on sale from April 1st, however, since some of the social events in the village have been suspended (Cafe Burtle and the Community Coffee Shop) you may purchase and pay for your tickets by bank transfer :

Burtle Harvest Home
Act: 00935368
Sort Code: 30-91-20
Reference: Family name please

Or else using a contactless card transaction, details from Steve Allen, Turbary, Burtle Road, Burtle  Tel: 01278723670

Should the situation not improve and we are required to cancel the event the committee are proposing to reschedule for August 4th 2021.  All ticket holders will be offered the option to retain their tickets for the following year at the current price, or request a refund or to generously donate the money to the Harvest Home.
